ABOUT

OVERVIEW

Founded on the philosophy of innovation through collaboration, Fender Katsalidis has evolved from a Melbourne-centric architectural practice, to a highly awarded, multi-disciplinary international design firm whose work now influences built environment thinking across the globe.

Specialists in multi-residential, cultural, commercial, aged care and hotel typologies, we seek and deliver holistic solutions in architecture, masterplanning, urban design and interiors—solutions notable not only for their design quality, but also their civic contribution and economic mindfulness.

To ensure such outcomes remain our hallmark—and expose the practice to new and different ways of thinking—we frequently bring together local and international consultant teams to work side-by-side with our own.

The quest for holistic solutions has also driven us to extend our expertise far beyond the expected. Fender Katsalidis was a pioneer, and remains a leader, in 3D virtual modelling and building information systems, while the Unitised Building system invented by practice co-founder, Nonda Katsalidis, continues to revolutionise construction timeframes and costs.

Perhaps best known for our definitive tall building and public realm design, we are equally proud of our lesser profile achievements: the documentation and quality assurance processes, for example, regarded as the gold standard throughout the construction industry.

As sophisticated as our technology may be, and as reliable as our processes have proven themselves, we know that ultimately it’s experience that ensures the original design vision is realised. Our directors thus remain ‘hands on’ with every project from inception to completion.

CULTURE

The emergence of Fender Katsalidis as a global, design-led practice is as much a measure of our culture, as it is our creativity.

A true design studio, we solve problems collaboratively: one team, comprising many points of view, approaches, levels of experience and areas of specialist knowledge — augmented where required by best-of-breed consultants — all focused on realising the best possible client outcome.

That teamwork and interplay of roles, ideas and contributions continues throughout the life of the many and varied projects we undertake, ensuring each team member is continually challenged, and continually growing in expertise.

Mentoring plays a key role in this development. We strive not only to attract the best and brightest design professionals from around the world, but also to help them realise their full potential by sharing the accumulated wisdom of the firm’s senior personnel.

EMPLOYMENT

STUDIO MANAGER SYDNEY

Our day to day studio operations rely on the role of Studio Manager who attends to a diverse range of responsibilities primarily in the areas of administration, coordination of HR activities, project resource planning, office financial processes, supervision of the IT function, reception and marketing.

Our ideal candidate will have a personable nature and an enthusiastic approach to supporting project-based, creative teams and a design studio generally.  They will be professionally presented and have a proactive attitude.  This role requires strong skills in communication, prioritisation of tasks and problem solving.  The preferred candidate is experienced in initiating and maintaining process and compliance across a range of finance and administrative functions and takes a holistic approach to the maintenance and improvement of the studio environment and culture.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Initiate and collaborate with studio leadership on a range of finance functions;

  • Assist with HR administrative processes;
  • Support development of organisational culture through a range of social and learning initiatives;
  • Manage and provide direct and discreet operational and administrative support to the Sydney leadership team through the coordination of admin, reception and IT responsibilities; and
  • Ensure premises issues receive timely and appropriate attention and maintain presentation, safety and security of the studio.

The position is well-suited to an individual with a qualification in a relevant business discipline and working knowledge of a design-based professional services environment. Experience in the practical use of an accounting system is desirable.

FK offers successful candidates a flexible and supportive studio environment dedicated to the delivery of design excellence to clients and the built environment.  Building facilities include well-appointed end-of-trip facilities and staff lounge.  FK social coordinates staff social, engagement and learning opportunities for the team regularly.
