Founded on the philosophy of innovation through collaboration, Fender Katsalidis has evolved from a Melbourne-centric architectural practice, to a highly awarded, multi-disciplinary international design firm whose work now influences built environment thinking across the globe.

Specialists in multi-residential, cultural, commercial, aged care and hotel typologies, we seek and deliver holistic solutions in architecture, masterplanning, urban design and interiors—solutions notable not only for their design quality, but also their civic contribution and economic mindfulness.

To ensure such outcomes remain our hallmark—and expose the practice to new and different ways of thinking—we frequently bring together local and international consultant teams to work side-by-side with our own.

The quest for holistic solutions has also driven us to extend our expertise far beyond the expected. Fender Katsalidis was a pioneer, and remains a leader, in 3D virtual modelling and building information systems, while the Unitised Building system invented by practice co-founder, Nonda Katsalidis, continues to revolutionise construction timeframes and costs.

Perhaps best known for our definitive tall building and public realm design, we are equally proud of our lesser profile achievements: the documentation and quality assurance processes, for example, regarded as the gold standard throughout the construction industry.

ARCHITECT MELBOURNE

We are on the lookout for a keen Architect to join our team. Having received your Architect Registration, you have since spent at least two years working in a professional environment.

Our Architects may be assigned to work as part of a team on specific phases of work across a variety of projects, such as on elements of pre- or post-planning stages. Alternatively, they may be assigned on a long-term basis to a team to follow a project through all phases of project delivery culminating in involvement on site and having reason to communicate with builders and consultants.

INTERIOR DESIGNER SYDNEY

We’re looking for an Interior Designer to join our team who is as passionate about the built environment as they are teamwork and collaboration. You should have the creativity and design nous to shape and innovative, as well as the drive to contribute to our studio culture.

An Interior Designer at FK is someone who can work independently, and within a team. As a future leader at FK, they should work to champion the interior design on their projects in conjunction with Senior team members ensuring the design intent is upheld.

Our successful candidate will have previous experience in workplace design or commercial, they will be a versatile candidate that is ready to join FK’s growing Interior Design team.

Working across various project phases including concept planning, sketch design, design development, materials selection, consultant coordination and liaison with documentation team members for construction drawing production, this person should be ready to join a fast paced, agile team.

This next step in your career is a permanent, full-time role.

RECEPTIONIST MELBOURNE

Our receptionist will work in close collaboration with the local admin team and wider national team to provide dedicated support to the studio and assist with the day-to-day general office operations.

This important role will involve:

  • Crafting an outstanding front of house experience with a high level of attention to detail in all areas, especially with respect to our client and visitor experience.
  • Coordinating boardroom and other meeting room bookings for all FK hosted meetings, in-house training, and industry events.
  • Ensuring reception is always covered and all phone calls and enquires receive a timely response.
  • Meet and greet of visitors, attend to their needs, and provide refreshments.
  • Maintaining a presentable studio – set-up/pack-up and be attentive throughout the day to reception and boardroom spaces, kitchenette, print and supply areas.
  • Coordinating and maintaining reliable reception functions – couriers, distribution of mail, catering etc.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining company phone and boardroom AV systems.
  • Assisting with the induction of new team members including workstation set-ups for new and relocating staff.
  • Assisting with the management of company emails, responding to general inquiries as appropriate.
  • Assisting with organising staff functions including supporting the FK Social Committee and events hosted by the studio and its team members.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have friendly and professional communication skills, and the ability to host and interact with visitors, including staff, suppliers, and clients on a variety of levels in an accommodating and conscientious manner.
  • Prioritise effectively and complete tasks within timeframes assigned.
  • Manage multiple priorities and work under pressure with a degree of autonomy.
  • Develop productive working relationships and manage those relationships with maturity and confidence.

SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER MELBOURNE

The Senior Interior Designer is a key role within FK’s team, they are highly skilled designers with a wealth of experience that allows them to work independently, resolving issues and driving the interior design elements of the projects they work on.

The Senior Interior Designer has the skills and initiative to lead teams and use a holistic project management approach, inducing delegation of tasks, managing timelines and deliverables to ensure positive outcomes for FK’s projects. Senior Interior Designers play an important role in supporting FK’s interiors leadership team to ensure interiors principles are upheld on all FK projects.

STUDENTS MELBOURNE, SYDNEY & BRISBANE

We are always on the lookout for talented Students of Architecture and Interior Design to join our Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane studio teams. We aim to have regular student intakes usually around the middle and end of the year, we encourage you to apply at any time to be considered for one of our student intakes.

A Student of Architecture is still studying either their bachelor’s or Master of Architecture, while a Student of Interior Design will be studying a formal Interior Design qualification. They are driven, passionate and ready to jump into what may be their first role in a studio. At FK we do not expect our students to know everything, you are here to learn and grow, but we do expect a great attitude, a good design eye and a passion for the built environment.
