A Responsive Tower

The urbane proportions of the 80-storey Tower One paired with the fine grain of public connections redefines the site as an activated, connected, and vibrant new precinct.

The publicly accessible plaza provides a sheltered meeting place for visitors to the area and through-site access to the Queen Victoria Market.

The multi-level podium with its variety of uses, including retail tenancies, commercial suites and a childcare centre, enriches the ground plane through new linkages and an enhanced public realm. The dynamic podium and tower form of Queens Place are expressed through contrasting yet complementary materials.

The gleaming tower with its silver curtain wall glazing has been rounded and streamlined to capture and reflect light and views, responding to the site’s exposure to north-westerly winds. In contrast, the detailed podium’s curvaceous fins and external terrace with interwoven planters anchor the site with earthy tones and exposed stonework.

The placement of plant and services over the two uppermost levels presented an opportunity to create a fluted glass ‘lantern’. This gold-clad design element adds a unique and distinctive contribution to the skyline as recessed LED lighting washes light across the tower’s crown at dusk.

Providing four tiers of premium residences resulted in new models of flexible apartment living along with the highest standard communal amenity, including a pool and spa, games rooms, karaoke suite, cinema, library, poker and mahjong room.
