Renowned for his enquiring mind, David’s long and distinguished architectural career with Fender Katsalidis began as practice manager, where alongside the founding partners, he successfully guided the firm through its formative years.

The expansion of the practice prompted David’s return to his true passion – designing – and the realisation of his talent for urban planning. His unerring ability to unlock a site’s potential has been crucial to FK’s success in the design and delivery of large-scale residential, commercial and mixed-use precincts.

As a partner of the practice, David leads the design efforts within his own team, overseeing project instigation and conceptual design, as well as client support and negotiations as key liaison. David’s expertise working with planning and review authorities has resulted in many of the practice’s best-known projects, including the NewActon, 2&4 National Circuit and Midnight precincts. His influence on such multi-layered developments has become an exemplar of how to not only make buildings, but curate the space between them.

When designing extraordinary environments for people, David encourages contributions from others and loves to get team members involved, regarding architecture as a primarily collaborative activity.
