In repurposing and combining two existing low-grade office buildings into integrated modern workplace, Midtown Centre redevelopment is an exemplar of ecological sustainability.

It is a benchmark of the ‘Buildings That Breathe’ framework providing landscaped areas in excess of 3,000sqm, in its sky garden, garden terraces and ‘green seam’ that encases the tower.

Compared with a demolish and rebuild scenario, Midtown Centre’s infill achieves a 231 per cent cumulative impact reduction across all environmental indicators, including a 37 per cent CO2 reduction compared to a new build. This reduction equates to 11,000 tonnes of carbon saving, equivalent to running the building fully occupied carbon neutral for four years.

Upon completion, the building successfully achieved a 6 Star GreenStar rating.
