East Central Tower Display Suite
The concept for the display suite at East Central Tower focuses around an experience centre and apartment display that explores the notion of a “box within a box” and plays with ideas of light and shadow against materials of varying solidity to create a theatrical experience.
Thematically, the client requested the space be introverted, with controlled views to the exterior and limited natural daylight entering into the space.
The display suite incorporates high levels of sensory stimulation internally, which required the arrangement and separation of the space and zones to be highly curated and defined for each sensory experience. Therefore, the ‘box within a box’ concept became the centrepiece within the space.
The screen enclosing the display apartment plays on light and shadow and highlights the apartment display as a feature.
The display suite is built within an existing, unused office building and so draws on and re-uses the existing structure and services to inform the design.
