The design of Oatlands Hotel responds to its place, reinterpreting Georgian elements in a considered approach that resolves the challenges posed by its unique site and typology.

Inspired by its surroundings and history, the hotel’s distinctive hipped roofs, series of chimney structures, geometric forms and curves throughout the pavilions draw a sense of simplicity, respecting Georgian design principles. The rural Tasmanian context sets the hotel’s palette, with the facade coated in steel, charred timber and sandstone reflecting the texture of the wild and rugged landscape. The bar, restaurant, business facilities and guest amenities, are arranged around various pavilions, framing vistas to Lake Dulverton and the neighbouring historic Callington Mill.

Oatlands Hotel’s unique offerings will provide the unprecedented opportunity for the town become a destination beyond Hobart, and an industry hub for locals seeking to advance their hospitality careers.
