Adelaide Advertiser
This commission from News Limited was for 12,500m2 of editorial and advertising office space associated with its two Adelaide newspapers, The Advertiser and the Sunday Mail.
The site chosen was well suited to the large floor plates required for newspaper production. The north facade features a double skin of naturally ventilated glass to shade and insulate the interior space.
Between the two skins is a trafficable zone for maintenance and servicing. The outer skin is treated with a graphic overlay which provides subtle references to the building’s function. An offset core and atrium allow deep light penetration to every level and orientate occupants through the building’s vertical circulation.
With intelligent lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, this building is a technological first for Adelaide. This building received the 2006 RAIA Commercial Award for Design Excellence.
