Garema Place
Garema Hotel is the latest luxury hotel to transform Canberra’s inner suburbs into a hospitality and leisure destination.
This 11-storey hotel, designed by Fender Katsalidis for TP Dynamics, will feature 240 hotel keys and a wellness floor that will include a garden terrace, spa and cantilevering pool. A rooftop bar, open to the public, will provide premium leisure options, further enriching the city centre’s offerings. The hotel will also offer a 500-seat function space, bars and two restaurants on the ground floor, including the iconic local alfresco eatery, Gus’ Place, which will be respectfully retained and restored.
Located at 70 Bunda Street, Garema Hotel plays a pivotal role in the reinvigoration of Garema Place. A strategically designed paved outdoor area will seamlessly connect the hotel to the established retail and dining precinct, fostering a vibrant and interconnected urban space.
The building’s contemporary design responds to the site’s geometry, featuring three complementary frontages with striking vertical detailing and a subtle curved facade. Its curvilinear form cascades southward from Garema Place, ensuring ample sunlight penetration into the adjoining plaza.
Construction on the project is due to commence in 2024.
