810 Whitehorse Road
The proposed design for a 29-storey residential development with mixed-use podium at 810-812 Whitehorse Road has been envisioned as a future gateway to Box Hill.
Addressing three different elevations, the distinctive project will feature a central tower and two ‘shoulder’ towers grounding it. This configuration creates generous breathing space and provides additional depth of field, as opposed to a uniform mass. The prominent corner site lends itself to two primary street frontages as well as a third, secondary frontage.
At ground level, there is a mix of both commercial and retail offerings with separate residential and commercial lobbies. To invite people in, the urban response utilises a permeable link strategy which promotes pedestrian traffic and connectivity through the site rather than around it.
On the fourth floor, an entire level dedicated to shared resident amenities will feature private dining, a bar, cinema and gym facilities.
The building’s multifaceted facade structure creates ample opportunity for numerous landscaped terraces. The biophilic response softens the podium through the implementation of varying organic green. Due to the site’s location in a high wind zone, the addition of ground interface canopies mitigates the effects of high intensity wind, allowing pedestrians to comfortably move about and occupy the space.
