His position as an Associate Principal at Fender Katsalidis has progressed over more than a decade with the practice, joining as a graduate in 2008. Today, Kianson coordinates teams and manages project finances and resourcing. His strong client relations enable him to work efficiently through the nitty-gritty of project development to provide key details to the team leadership.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne, Kianson then found an opportunity with Fender Katsalidis as part of the Merdeka 118 team, developing the megatall skyscraper’s diamond-shaped scheme. His involvement in other FK projects includes the development of 2 Riverside Quay and Australia 108, assisting those teams with design studies and town planning, while honing his ArchiCAD skills. 

Kianson has taken on more of a leadership role with recent developments such as NewActon Nishi, Sky Village and Northcote Plaza. His contributions to these projects represent a focus on truly mixed-use precincts with highly integrated retail, amenity and overtop development.

Kianson’s pursuit of methods to optimise and improve processes has achieved best quality results in a shorter amount of time, which has made him a reliable go-to for quick feasibility studies of any typology. His extensive knowledge of modelling software has aided the development of systems that have been rolled out to the wider office to better assist with client’s needs.

Kianson’s characteristic approachability invites his peers and other team members to go to him with any challenge or issue. Extending this warmth to clients and consultants has also led to him establishing many lasting connections and productive relationships.
